The Golden Road To Canada

I think most Avonlea fans have, at one time or another, dreamed of visiting the place where Lucy Maud Montgomery grew up, and where our beloved series Road to Avonlea and Anne of Green Gables took place: Prince Edward Island. I've dreamt about visiting the Island for many years; and, according to a poll on my Avonlea website, other fans are interested in such a trip as well. This journey has been only a dream for a long time due to financial issues. However, now that I've finished my university studies and have started working, money is no longer an issue. Visiting PEI is a wonderful idea; but it would be more enjoyable for me to share this experience with the friends I've come to know because of Avonlea and Anne. That's why I created this website: to organize a trip to Canada -- especially PEI -- and to get Hungarian fans of Avonlea to join me, so we may visit Canada together..

When I started planning this journey at the end of 2003, I didn't think I would be travelling to Canada so soon. Then I learned some American fans were organizing an Avonlea Convention to be held during the summer of 2004 (Avonlea Convention 2004). I was so excited to be there; it was a real adventure. The following year, a second AvCon took place; and in May 2006, there was an official Road to Avonlea cast reunion. Unfortunately, I didn't make it to PEI during these three trips to Canada; but at the same time, I got to know Toronto a little bit, and made lots of American and Canadian friends during my visits!

In 2007, there will be a third AvCon; and I've decided I will obtain my original goal: combine the trip to Toronto for AvCon 2007 with a visit to Prince Edward Island afterwards. I'd also like to invite the friends I've made at the previous conventions to come with me, besides the Hungarian fans, so all of us can share this experience together, as an extension of AvCon 2007. For Hungarian fans and friends, this trip is a long one, including a near-two-week stay in Toronto for AvCon 2007, followed by our venture to PEI for them and international fans.
